The Dunedin Night Shelter is a vital service offering free emergency accommodation to individuals in need, irrespective of gender or background.
Operating nightly from 6pm to 9am, the shelter provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at ensuring the well-being and comfort of its guests. Alongside a warm bed for the night, guests are provided with a nourishing evening meal and breakfast, as well as access to essential facilities including showers and laundry services.
All guests can take a prepared packed lunch the day, ensuring continued support beyond their stay. The shelter operates on a no-booking basis, streamlining access for those requiring immediate assistance.
Additionally, all staff, including our Community Worker, extend support beyond the shelter, assisting guests in transitioning to more permanent accommodation solutions, supporting them with appointments and in finding further support in the community.
The Dunedin Night Shelter Trust's administration is entirely voluntary, reflecting a commitment to maximising resources for the benefit of the shelter and its guests.
